Synergy Motorsport :: A Young Team With A Wealth Of Experience
Frustrated by the lack of opportunity available for Australian youth to foster their career in motorsport, Justin Cotter established Synergy Motorsport with one primary objective - to provide equal opportunity for emerging talent regardless of their socio-economic circumstance.
Engineering & Technology
Involved with motorsport before he could walk, Justin Cotter heads up the engineering & technology
program for Synergy Motorsport. At the tender age of 15 Justin prepared his first sports sedan, winning
several Division 1 rounds along the way. Progressing to Go Karts where he competed on an
international level, Justin eventually returned home to focus on Formula Ford.
Debuting in the category with a self-prepared and funded car, Justin stamped his mark on the series by
challenging, and beating, both better-funded and factory-backed teams. His engineering talent was
recognised when, in 2005, Borland Racing invited Justin to join the team as race engineer. The teams
faith in Justin was rewarded when his precise engineering saw the team take out all 18 rounds of the
NSW State Championship that same year.
Not content to rest on their laurels Justin spearheaded Borland Racings campaign at a national level,
winning the National Formula Ford Championship in 2006. Eager for more experience in 2006 Justin,
along with John Martin (ex-Borland Racing championship winning driver) moved to the United Kingdom
where they competed in two rounds of the British Formula Ford Championship (where Martin
dominated clean winning one round) ahead of the British Formula Ford Festival. Past winners include
Mark Webber, Jensen Button and David Coulthard. In 2007/8 John Martin is competing in British
Formula 3, widely accepted as the bench mark Formula 3 Series. Previously Justin has been working
with Australian Formula Ford drivers Ashley Walsh, Kristian Lindbom and Joshua Scott, who were all
inside the top 5 in the National Championship.
In 2008 the teams debut year Synergy Motorsport drivers Paul Laskazeski and Brad Lowe domainated the opening round and from there it was a comanding pace from Laska that had them seal the championship., Chaz Mostert, Ryan Simpson and Nick Simmons all showed great promise in their rookie years and in 2010 Chaz Mostert looks set to ontinue his great form along with new comer Nathan Morcom.
