Borsato Continues Promising Start to the Year

mostertIn what is his second full year of Formula Ford; youngster Stefan Borsato has continued his strong start to the year by recording his maiden victory recently at Wakefield Park Raceway, near Goulburn in NSW, in the second round of the 2010 NSW Formula Ford Championship.

The Synergy Motorsport driver recorded his break through victory during the third and final race of the second round of the NSW Championship where he ran his # 17 Brunelli's Cafe / Perisher supported Spectrum 11C in the newly formed 'Fiesta' class.

Earlier in the weekend, Borsato had qualified third outright and then worked his way towards his maiden victory in the third and final race by finishing third in the opening race and then second place in race two.

Overall the weekend was judged a success by Borsato and his Synergy Motorsport team, as they were able to continue to progress together from their opening round NSW Championship performance at Eastern Creek Raceway (Sydney, NSW) last month.

"To pick up my first win was just the icing on the cake from what was a great weekend, but the most pleasing aspect to come out of the weekend was that I learned more and my speed improved as a result," expressed the 17-year-old from the NSW Snowy Mountains township of Kalkite. "I lacked a bit of consistency during the opening round of the NSW Championship. I worked hard on that area at Wakefield Park and with the wonderful support of Justin Cotter and the Synergy Motorsport team I've been able to achieve my goal of progressing."

With two rounds of the NSW Championship Borsato is well in contention for the 'Fiesta' class honours and he is looking forward to the remainder of the year as he chases his short-term goal of reaching the National Championship.

"My first season in Formula Ford I ran in the Victorian Championship and it was a good place to learn the ropes as there was so much strong competition and that helped immensely with continuing to improve," said the former Go Kart racer. "For this year the Synergy Motorsport team and I decided to try our luck in the NSW Championship and as we are finding out that is as equally as tough as the Victorian Championship. The goal for next year is to step up into the National Championship and I feel that the experience I gain this year, on top of last year's, then it will hold me in good stead for the move and allow me to be competitive from the get go."

The third round of the 2010 NSW Formula Ford Championship is going to be held at Eastern Creek Raceway on the weekend of June 19 and 20.

Borsato would like to say a special thanks to Synergy Motorsport, Brunelli's Cafe and Perisher for all their ongoing support in 2010.
